Official news: Manchester United have signed Brentford forward Mbeumo, with the two parties agreeing a contract until June 2030, including a one-year extension option.

Manchester United’s official announcement reads as follows:

Manchester United are pleased to confirm that Bryan Mbeumo has joined the club, subject to completion of registration formalities. The Cameroonian international has signed a contract running until June 2030, with an option to extend for a further year.

Last season, the 25-year-old Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League – the fourth-highest tally in the league – and provided 8 assists. Since Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League, Mbeumo has directly contributed to an average of 18 goals per season, an impressive record.

Bryan Mbeumo said: “When I found out there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to seize the opportunity to sign for this club of my dreams – the team I grew up supporting in their shirt.

“My mindset is to keep surpassing who I was yesterday. I know that under Ruben Amorim’s guidance, and playing alongside world-class teammates, I have the spirit and determination to take my game to the next level here.

“Everyone has told me about the atmosphere being built here and how exciting the future plans are. This is a great club with an incredible stadium and passionate fans, and we’re all determined to fight for the biggest trophies.”

Manchester United Football Director John Murtough said: “Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional, and his remarkable consistency has made him one of the most prolific players in English football over the past three seasons.

“Bryan’s belief in our project and his determination to join the club are testament to him being the perfect fit for Manchester United and the team culture we are building.

“We’re delighted to secure another key target ahead of our pre-season tour. The experience in the United States will be a fantastic opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new teammates as we prepare for an exciting upcoming season.” (End of announcement)

Previously, Manchester United will pay Brentford a fixed transfer fee of £65 million in four installments for Mbeumo, with an additional £6 million in performance-related add-ons as part of the deal.
