Chelsea director Paul Winstanley highly rates the Argentine forward and is seeking to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
In addition to RB Leipzig midfielder Harvey Simmons, Chelsea are still working to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine is eager to move to Stamford Bridge, but Manchester United insist on an asking price of at least £40 million.
Garnacho has long been tipped to leave Manchester United in this summer’s transfer window, with the club looking to sell him. As early as May, manager Erik ten Hag informed him he needed to find another club. The Argentine criticized ten Hag’s decision not to select him to start in the Red Devils’ Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Garnacho has never been short of suitors, and Chelsea, a long-term admirer, added him to their transfer shortlist as early as January. However, the move did not materialize due to a failure to reach an agreement with Manchester United on the transfer fee.
For Chelsea, in the winger position, despite signing English winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for £55 million this summer, there is still a feeling within Stamford Bridge that the club lacks options in the left winger role. This is particularly the case with Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester United, Noni Madueke being sold, and Mykhailo Mudryk’s doping situation remaining unresolved.
Chelsea director Winstanley highly appreciates Garnacho’s ability and performances. They recognized his excellent potential during his time at Manchester United, and Winstanley is pushing forward with the deal, hoping to sign him for a transfer fee of £30-40 million.
Meanwhile, The Blues are also preparing to make an initial offer for RB Leipzig star Harvey Simmons, a player who can operate in the No. 10 role and is also capable of playing as a winger.
