Barcelona's coaching staff currently believe that Torres is a better replacement for Lewandowski in the midfield role. Torres scored twice against Seoul FC and was given a rest for load management reasons in the match against Daegu FC.
This means that Rashford’s best chance in La Liga at present is to play on Barcelona’s left flank, serving as an understudy to Rafinha. Flick's staff currently expect Rashford to feature primarily on the left wing – though they also know he is versatile enough to play other positions.
Rashford does look in high spirits and seems willing to embrace the challenge of fighting for playing time in one of Europe’s strongest attacking setups. Judging from his recent comments (made in the mixed zone after Barcelona’s victory over Seoul FC), he does not appear worried about potential restrictions on playing time this season.
Meanwhile, Rashford’s new teammates have been impressed by his attitude. According to unnamed sources within Barcelona, who were not authorized to comment, Rashford has been very cautious in getting along with everyone in the dressing room, seeking to make a good impression and perform well from the start.
“He is eager to do everything well, very humble, and respects everyone on the pitch,” a dressing room source told Camel Live. “On the field, he has shown the necessary dedication.”
For Flick, he insists on seeing solid defensive work from attacking players, and sources from the team’s coaching staff have stated that they are pleased with what they’ve seen.
So, is everything okay so far? Not exactly.
With 11 days until the start of La Liga, Rashford is still not registered as a Barcelona player. Until he is registered, he will be ineligible to participate in any official matches. If he remains unregistered before the transfer window closes, Barcelona will not be able to register him until the transfer window reopens next January.
Barcelona sources insist they are confident in registering all required players before the start of the 2025-26 season. In addition to Rashford, they need to register new signings Juan García and Rooney Baldé, as well as returning player Wojciech Szczęsny.
Gerard Martín, who previously did not need registration as a youth player, now also needs to be registered as a first-team player.
