Bayern Munich are interested in signing Stuttgart star Nick Woltemade, but so far, the transfer fee they have offered has been too low. On Friday, Stuttgart rejected Bayern Munich's first written offer, which stood at €40 million plus €5 million in bonuses.
Now, Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle has publicly addressed the negotiations for the first time at the "750th anniversary of Mögglingen" celebration. The Stuttgart official stated: “We won't let him go; he will continue to play for us next season.”
It sounds like Woltemade is not for sale. But Wehrle left himself an opening, saying: “Unless Bayern Munich really take some extraordinary steps, in which case we are all professionals and can discuss it.”
However, one thing is certain: Wehrle is putting pressure on Bayern Munich. If they truly want to bring Woltemade to Munich, they must make a higher offer to Stuttgart. Stuttgart's transfer fee demand is around €80 million.
Currently, negotiations between the two clubs have only been conducted over the phone. Although Bayern Munich's executives have hoped to hold face-to-face talks with Stuttgart's leadership, this has not yet been successful. Speaking about the process of the transfer negotiations, Wehrle said: "Negotiations are happening over the phone. Normally, both sides would meet, but so far, I have categorically refused."
