Manchester United Football Club (often referred to as "Man Utd" or "MUFC" in English) is a professional football club based in Manchester, Greater Manchester, in the North West of England. It currently competes in the English Premier League.

Team History
Founded in 1878 by railway workers from the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company as Newton Heath LYR Football Club, the club was renamed Manchester United Football Club on 24 April 1902. On 22 April 2014, the club officially announced the sacking of manager David Moyes, with Ryan Giggs appointed as interim manager. In the 2015/16 FA Cup Final, the team defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 after extra time, claiming the 12th FA Cup title in the club’s history. For the 2016/17 season, José Mourinho took over as Manchester United’s head coach. On 2 May 2021, Manchester United fans protested against the Glazer family by storming Old Trafford on matchday, forcing the postponement of the team’s fixture against Liverpool. In December 2023, the Ineos Group, led by Jim Ratcliffe, acquired a 25% stake in Manchester United for £1.25 billion. In August 2025, the team won the 2025 Premier League Summer Series title.
Achievement
Throughout its history, Manchester United has won numerous honors, including 20 English top-flight football league titles, 3 UEFA Champions League titles, and 13 FA Cup titles. It became the first English club to win the European Cup (now UEFA Champions League) in the 1967/68 season, the first club from Europe’s "Big Five" leagues to be crowned treble winners (domestic league, domestic cup, and European Cup) in the 1998/99 season, and the club with the most English top-flight titles after the 2010/11 season. Manchester United is also one of the European clubs to have achieved the "European Treble" (winning the three major European club competitions: UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and now-defunct UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup).
