Club Atlético de Madrid is a football club based in Madrid, Spain. Founded on April 26, 1903, its home ground is the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, and it currently competes in La Liga (the Spanish Primera División).
Team History
On April 26, 1903, Atlético Madrid was founded as a youth team branch of Athletic Bilbao by three Basque students living in Madrid. In 1921, Atlético Madrid officially gained independence from Athletic Bilbao. In 1940, the club won its first La Liga title. In 1962, Atlético Madrid claimed its first European competition trophy. Since 2002, Atlético Madrid has continuously competed in Spain’s top-flight league.

Atlético Madrid has won 11 La Liga titles, 3 UEFA Champions League runner-up finishes, 3 UEFA Europa League titles, and 3 UEFA Super Cup titles. Additionally, it has also claimed honors such as the Intercontinental Cup, the Supercopa de España, and the UEFA Intertoto Cup.
