Aston Villa have identified Porto striker Samu Aghocha as a potential summer target, though no talks have yet begun between the clubs.
Villa’s interest in the Spanish international forward is driven by their Spanish management team – boss Unai Emery, who knows Aghocha well, has been a key advocate for pursuing the 21-year-old. Alongside a much-needed defensive midfielder, Aghocha ranks high on Villa’s wishlist.
However, a deal is unlikely to progress quickly. Villa, having splashed heavy cash in recent years, must first sell players to fund new signings. Critically, Porto are standing firm: they paid €32m to buy out Atletico Madrid’s remaining stake in Aghocha in 2023, and his contract (running until 2029) includes a €100m release clause. The Portuguese club have made it clear they won’t accept lowball offers.
