After Côte d'Ivoire won the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, a large number of fans celebrated on the streets, and more than a dozen people were arrested during the celebrations in the capital, especially on the Champs-Élysées.

During this year's Africa Cup of Nations, it is reported that Paris police have banned fans from gathering on the Champs-Élysées before 2 AM on January 1st.
Previously, Paris police had already issued a ban prohibiting any fan gatherings on the Champs-Élysées from December 21st to January 19th, i.e., during the Africa Cup of Nations. The police pointed out that there is a serious risk that supporters of participating teams may gather on the Champs-Élysées and use dangerous items such as pyrotechnic devices. Considering the large number of tourists in the area during the year-end holidays and the riots and public order problems that occurred on and around the Champs-Élysées during previous tournaments, the police believe it is necessary to take this measure.
A source familiar with the matter said: "During the Africa Cup of Nations, the same measures will be implemented through orders from different police stations." Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that the police will issue more bans for the rest of the tournament.
