According to media reports, Enzo Maresca informed Chelsea on two occasions (in late October and mid-December, shortly after the Everton match) that he was in talks with Manchester City-related figures and would consider taking charge of the club if the Manchester City manager position became vacant.
The 45-year-old former Chelsea manager stated that his contract with the club obligated him to do so.
