Prediction: Draw or Cameroon wins

Côte d'Ivoire’s air-tight defence will cause a lot of problems for the Cameroon defence, which has struggled to score goals in recent games. Even The Indomitable Lions are just as capable of keeping The Elephants quiet, which is why we’re backing at least one team to keep a clean sheet.

They’ve already done so in their opening games, which also makes it six and three competitive games in a row for Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon, respectively. Hence, our Côte d'Ivoire vs Cameroon prediction is Draw or Cameroon wins.

It’s no exaggeration to call Côte d'Ivoire one of the best African football nations today, after the performances they’ve just had.

In the just-concluded CAF World Cup qualifiers, Côte d'Ivoire remained undefeated, winning eight of ten games. But that’s not even the most interesting part.

The reigning AFCON champions have now also kept a clean sheet in 16 of their last 21 games in all competitions. Talk about a frightening defence.

Several players arguably qualify as the best for Côte d'Ivoire over the year, which is no surprise considering the level of success they’ve achieved.

The front line of Amad Diallo and Yan Diomande gets most of the praise. However, Roma’s Evan Ndicka has been a rock at the back, and perhaps the key to Côte d'Ivoire’s success.

Cameroon’s form may not exactly compare, but they’ve also been among the better-performing African nations. Cameroon finished second in their WC qualifier group stage and were only defeated once.

The Indomitable Lions only failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after losing out to DR Congo in a 90+1-minute winner from Chancel Mbemba. Still, that loss is only one of three over Cameroon’s last 20 games.

However, the forward pairing of Etta Eyong and Bryan Mbeumo will be a step up from the teams Ndicka has faced in that span. Eyong and Mbuemo combined for the only goal in the win over Gabon.

Mbeumo, who leads in goals for Man United this season, now has a goal or assist in each of Cameroon’s last four competitive games outside friendlies, with 5 G/A in total.

If keeping yet another clean sheet is on the agenda for Côte d'Ivoire, they must find a way to keep Mbuemo quiet up front. In turn, Bryan and Eyong may have to be extra creative if they hope to crack The Elephants' seemingly impenetrable defence.

Final Prediction:
