Barcelona are considering a loan move for Marcus Rashford, with the 27-year-old's versatility in attack viewed as a major advantage by the Catalan club.
Barça's primary transfer target is Nico Williams, but even if the Athletic Bilbao winger joins, Flick believes the arrival of the Manchester United forward would enhance the team's options. Rashford's pace on the wings and ability to play as a central striker would strengthen squad depth, providing the coach with a natural backup for Poland veteran Robert Lewandowski.
In an interview with Spanish YouTuber Javi Ruiz this weekend, Rashford hinted at his future plans. When asked if he would like to play alongside Lamine Yamal, he replied: "Of course. Everyone wants to play with the best players. Hopefully... we can have that opportunity." Additionally, Barça sporting director Deco revealed in a May interview with Catalan radio station RAC1 that the club is interested in Rashford.
The England international added in the podcast: “It's hard to put into words what [Yamal] is doing because players his age shouldn't be doing that. I don't think we've ever seen anything like it. Spain is a great country, and it's not too far from home.”
Rashford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, is one of United's highest-paid players on a weekly wage of around £370,000. United ideally want a loan fee but may have to accept a deal where Barça covers part of his salary.
Another United winger, Jadon Sancho, is attracting interest from Fenerbahçe. The 25-year-old has spent the past one-and-a-half seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea respectively.
