Today marks the seventh day since Jota's brother passed away in a car accident. A seven-day Mass (a traditional Latin Rite ceremony in the Catholic Church, often held seven days after a person's death) was held in Jota's hometown, Gondomar, Portugal.

Numerous figures from both Portuguese and international football circles traveled to Gondomar Church to pay their respects, including Jota's Liverpool teammates Luis Díaz (who faced criticism for missing the funeral a few days ago due to business commitments) and Alisson (who also missed the funeral). Also in attendance were figures from Portuguese football such as Diogo Costa, José Sá, João Mário, and Ricardo Carvalho, as well as Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation. A large number of members of the public also attended to pay their respects.
