In the 13th round of Serie A, Como secured a 2-0 home victory over Sassuolo, extending their unbeaten run to 12 games across all competitions. After the match, Como manager Cesc Fàbregas attended the post-match press conference.
On Como’s 11-game unbeaten streak in Serie AFàbregas: “Today, our defensive performance wasn’t as good as usual—we frequently lost possession and didn’t play at our best overall. I’ve made this clear to the team. Fortunately, the team improved a lot later, and I could see us gradually taking control of the game. In the second half, we had chances to finish off the match better, and we still need to improve in killing off the game. We faced a very attacking team today, with players like Lauriente, Volpato, and Berardi—this was undoubtedly an important test for us.”
Moreno scored a goal in this game, his best performance since joining ComoFàbregas: “Yes, I’m sincerely happy for him. Games like this play a positive role in enhancing team cohesion. My team selections are based on football considerations, but it’s also important to ensure no player feels isolated or excluded. Although Moreno hasn’t had many playing opportunities, he performed exceptionally well today. After he scored, all the substitute players and coaching staff came forward to celebrate with him.”
Como will face Inter Milan away in the next round of Serie AFàbregas: “We need to stay grounded and take things step by step. The team must maintain this consistent good form and strive to play exciting football. Last season, we had mixed results against strong teams; this season, we need to further improve on that basis. Inter Milan is still one of the strongest teams in Serie A, on par with Napoli at the top. For us, this will be a crucial game that can well test our current level. It should also bring great motivation to the team, allowing us to play to our strengths with a relaxed mindset.
“However, this is actually a process that has been ongoing for many years—for me, it started two years ago, and for the club, it began when we were in Serie D. We have gradually changed the team’s mentality and overall football culture, thanks to our president and the strong team behind us. We are Como, a small club but with a big heart and great plans. We will grow step by step, and I aim to lead the team to compete with the strongest sides in 6 or 7 years. We have only been building this team for two years, which is quite short, but the results we have achieved so far are further than I expected.”
On his current feelings and how far he thinks the team can goFàbregas: “This is something our team often does, a celebration ritual after winning. Today’s victory means a lot to me, and I previously promised that I would join such celebrations whenever the team scores from a set piece—I have to keep my word. In the last game against Torino, since we won by a large margin, I didn’t want to celebrate excessively as it would be inappropriate, so I kept a low profile. But today is a different moment, and we fully enjoyed the joy of victory.”
