At the Serie A Awards Ceremony, Napoli Sports Director Mauro Manna gave an interview and talked about how the club signed Scott McTominay, who was named Serie A Player of the Season last term.
“We started discussing the transfer in early June, but the transfer market is always long and complex. We didn’t think Manchester United would let him go, but later they had to relent – and we were ready. The negotiations were very quick and smooth. The player quickly expressed his willingness to join and proved his value on the pitch.”
“Has McTominay’s performance exceeded our expectations? No, but his goalscoring rate has. He scored 12 goals last season, which is the first time he’s scored that many in his career.”
