"S.L. Benfica is a multi-sport club based in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. In addition to its core football department, it includes 8 other departments: basketball, roller hockey, futsal, volleyball, handball, water polo, rugby, and athletics.

Team History
Founded on February 28, 1904, the club was formerly known as ""Sport Lisboa"". It adopted its current name after merging with ""Grupo Sport Benfica"" in 1908. Benfica's football team is the second club in history to win the UEFA Champions League title, and its record of reaching the UEFA Champions League final seven times is surpassed only by Real Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Juventus. Nicknamed ""the Eagles"", the club even keeps an eagle as its mascot.
Nowadays
On November 3, 2022, Benfica advanced as group winners in the UEFA Champions League group stage at the last minute, thanks to the advantage of more away goals. On August 10, 2023, Benfica won the Portuguese Super Cup for the ninth time in the club's history.
