Liverpool officially announced that the team's striker Alexander Isak has suffered an ankle injury and fibula fracture, and has successfully undergone surgery. The return date is yet to be determined. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher subsequently commented on the tackle by Micky van de Ven that injured Isak.
Carragher said: “Many of Tottenham's players' physical challenges in the game have sparked a lot of discussions, and many of them are indeed unwise. But putting myself in Van de Ven's shoes, that might have been a defensive move I would have made.”
"He was trying to block the shot, and the problem lies in the subsequent movement. I don't know where people think his feet could have gone; he had to make that defensive play. In that situation, you can't let the striker just get a shot away easily."
