Manchester United have informed Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and other players who have submitted transfer requests that they must report to the Carrington training ground for training after 5 PM—by which time manager Ruben Amorim and the rest of the first-team squad will have left the facility.
Rashford, Garnacho, Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are all not part of Amorim’s plans for next season. Earlier this month, they were granted permission to delay their return to the club to sort out their uncertain futures. Last week, training facilities were made available to the five players, with Rashford attending the base to train alone, separated from other teammates.
Now, these players have been told to return to training but will not take part in collective first-team sessions. Instead, they are scheduled to arrive at the training ground later, after the first team’s training has concluded. They must also report this weekend, by which time the rest of the first-team squad will have traveled to Stockholm to prepare for a pre-season friendly against Leeds United.
While club sources state that all five players have requested to leave, some of their entourages have denied this, claiming they were originally happy to resume training with their teammates.
Manchester United are eager to resolve the futures of these five players, as further investment in new signings may require funds raised through player sales.
Rashford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, would prioritize a move abroad if he leaves United this summer. He is a backup target for Barcelona, who previously failed in an attempt to sign Nico Williams.
Sancho, Antony and Malacia spent last season on loan at Chelsea, Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven respectively. Chelsea have long held an interest in Garnacho, who himself hopes to stay in the Premier League.
