Lamine Yamal held his 18th birthday party this past weekend, attended by around 200 people, including friends, family, and some of his Barcelona teammates. Spanish model Claudia Calvo alleges that Yamal specifically invited 12 women with specific bust measurements for the gang-themed party.
Reportedly, Calvo—who was crowned "Miss Teen Spain 2021" and "Miss Teen Europe 2022"—told Camel Live that event organizers tried to recruit 12 blonde women with specific bust measurements, offering each €10,000 to €20,000 to be on call 24 hours, without disclosing the party's location in advance.
She added, "I have all the screenshots and conversation records. They told me the payment would be between €10,000 and €20,000. But the truth is, you have no idea what you're getting involved in. They just tell you to 'come and have fun.' Their requirements were blonde women, specific bust measurements, and they were looking for 'model or companion' types of girls." Calvo stated she withdrew after receiving these specific demands.
Previously, the Spanish government had demanded a thorough investigation into Yamal's birthday party over the presence of little people performers, potentially imposing a hefty fine of up to £867,000. Jesús Martín, Director-General for Disability Affairs of the Spanish government, said, "We are concerned that people with wealth and power believe they are above the law. But the law applies to everyone, rich or poor." Martín also expressed worry that such incidents could mislead young fans, especially those who look up to Yamal as a role model.
Carolina Puente, president of ADEE—a member of the Spanish Confederation of Organizations of People with Disabilities (COCEMFE)—also strongly condemned the incident: “In the 21st century, it is unacceptable that the little people community is still used as entertainment at private parties, especially when involving a public figure like Yamal. Our dignity and rights should not be used as entertainment by anyone, under any circumstances. Using people with disabilities or other marginalized groups for performances to provoke laughter and mockery is a grave offense to human dignity.”
“When figures with social influence are involved in such events, the impact is even worse, as it sends a message to the public—especially young people—that discrimination is acceptable. We must put an end to the objectification of 'differences' and educate people about respect and equality. We will not remain silent; we will defend the dignity and rights of our community in all spheres, demand accountability, and ensure such incidents never happen again.”
Yamal has yet to publicly respond to Calvo's allegations or ADEE's criticism.
