Vardy: My Childhood Idol Was Del Piero; I’ve Settled in Really Well Now

Jamie Vardy recently gave an interview to camel.live, talking about his idol and his family situation.
Who Was Your Childhood Idol?
“The player I admired the most when I was young was Alessandro Del Piero. Just watching him play—he was incredible. Seeing him score every week really inspired me a lot. After watching his games, I came here hoping to do the same thing—and that’s truly exciting.”
Your Wife Rebecca and Kids—Megan (20), Charlie Taylor (15), Sophia (14), Finley (8), and Olivia (6)—Haven’t Come to Italy Yet
“They’re not here right now; they’re sorting out visas and things like that. But they’re really looking forward to the move—it’s such an exciting time, especially getting to learn a new language. Once I made the decision, there was no hesitation at all.”
“I’m here now, and I’ve settled in really well. I’m just waiting to get out there and play straight away. Everything revolves around the games, and I want to help the team get good results. So right now, it’s just about waiting for my chance, giving my all to help the lads, and hopefully chipping in with some goals.”
Why Did You Choose Cremonese?
“Nicola [Cremonese’s head coach] has this passion for the club and for football itself—plus his desire to see the team improve and build a side of fighters. That fits perfectly with who I am. Every week, it’s not about who you’re up against; it’s about what the whole team can do. That’s what we need to focus on.”
“Every game is going to be tough—everyone wants to take the three points. I might need to adjust a little bit, but that’s something I’m looking forward to doing. I’m here to fight, to score goals, and to help leave my mark on this club.”
