The UEFA Executive Committee held a meeting in Tirana, Albania, where it decided the final venues for UEFA competition finals for the 2026-2027 season. Meanwhile, it also discussed the application of La Liga and Serie A for holding overseas matches and issued a statement.
Request for Authorization to Hold Domestic League Matches Outside the Jurisdiction of UEFA
The Executive Committee discussed the requests from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), which have applied for approval to hold one of their respective domestic league matches outside their home countries, particularly outside the jurisdiction of UEFA.
The Committee acknowledges that this is an important and increasingly prominent issue, but stated that before making a final decision, it wants to ensure that opinions from all stakeholders are solicited.
There are many issues yet to be resolved, and as the governing body of European football, UEFA has the responsibility to take all these factors into account.
Therefore, no decision has been made today, but UEFA will launch a round of consultations with all stakeholders in European football, including fans.
