Transfer | Real Madrid scouts eye signing of a "classic winger" – one who can stretch play and execute one-on-one dribbles

Currently, Real Madrid have spent approximately €200 million this summer and will not sign any new players until further sales are completed.

Following the departure of legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid appointed Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso this summer. While neither club has publicly disclosed the specific amount of Alonso's transfer fee, sources suggest it could be as high as €11.5 million.

Subsequently, Real Madrid signed several strong players by paying their release clauses. The club spent €68 million to sign centre-back Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth, whose standout performance at the Club World Cup quickly earned widespread praise.

To secure Trent Alexander-Arnold – whose contract was nearing expiration – for an early move and to allow him to participate in the Club World Cup, Real Madrid paid Liverpool €11.5 million. Around the time of the Club World Cup, the Galácticos also confirmed two more signings: 17-year-old Argentine international Franco Mastantuono, with a total price tag of $73 million (of which $45 million went to River Plate, and the rest covered taxes), and Benfica left-back Álvaro Carreras, for a transfer fee of $58 million.

Regarding the possibility of Real Madrid signing Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, opinions are divided. Alonso's squad lacks a player of his profile. Currently, Real Madrid's defensive midfield pair – Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga – are not adept at possession-based organization. The club's top target, Rodri, cannot be signed this summer due to injury, leaving a noticeable tactical flaw in Real Madrid's midfield operations. However, with Konaté entering the final year of his contract, Real Madrid have not ruled out a similar approach to the one used to sign Alexander-Arnold.

Now, Real Madrid's scouting team remains eager to sign a "classic winger" – one capable of stretching attacking spaces, being active on the flanks, and completing one-on-one dribbles – to perfectly fit Alonso's tactical vision. Given the club's heavy summer spending, the only condition for further signings is the sale of existing players.

The future of Rodrygo and Dani Ceballos has become a key issue. While top clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich have expressed interest in Rodrygo, no official offers have been made yet. Although official statements indicate Rodrygo wants to stay, he did not play a central role at the Club World Cup, and his entourage is pushing for a transfer – so the club is open to selling him.
