Despite numerous speculations regarding Bruno Fernandes' (B Fernandes) transfer to Saudi Arabia this summer, Manchester United Football Club's stance remains that it hopes he will stay with the team.
Despite reports from external media about speculation that Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes could move to the Saudi Professional League, the club still expects him to remain at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese international rejected an offer from Al Hilal SFC in May, and has since stated his intention to fulfill more "dreams" at Manchester United. Manchester United insiders are puzzled by the sudden rumors that B Fernandes might leave before the September 1 transfer deadline, and insist that the probability of Fernandes departing is extremely low. He has a contract with Manchester United until 2027, and the club also holds an option to extend the contract by an additional year.
The 30-year-old Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020 and has won the club's Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award four times.
The Portuguese international led Manchester United to win the EFL Cup and FA Cup titles in 2023 and 2024 respectively. However, Manchester United suffered defeats in the 2021 and 2025 Europa League finals as well as the 2023 FA Cup final, with Fernandes starting in all those matches.
Fernandes has returned to the midfield position at the start of the season. In Sunday's second round Premier League match against Fulham (played at Fulham's home ground), he continued to feature in midfield, partnering with Casemiro.
Manchester United hopes to strengthen its midfield before the transfer deadline, but failed to sign Brighton & Hove Albion's midfielder Moises Caicedo due to an insufficiently high offer. Collier has been granted permission to join West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte, who was signed on the August transfer deadline last year, has failed to regain playing time and was dropped from the squad towards the end of last season.
Kobbie Mainoo has also lost his place in the starting lineup under Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, and negotiations over his new contract have not made any progress.
