A deal for Thomas Müller to join Vancouver Whitecaps has been agreed, with the German legend set to sign a two-year contract with the club.
After leaving Bayern Munich following the expiration of his contract this summer, the 35-year-old Müller ultimately opted not to retire, instead deciding to continue his career in North America.
It is understood that Vancouver Whitecaps are finalizing the deal to sign Thomas Müller. The club has reached a principle agreement with FC Cincinnati to secure Müller's "discovery rights (priority signing rights)"—the final hurdle before officially signing Müller.
FC Cincinnati will receive up to approximately $400,000 in league-allocated targeted allocation money. Cincinnati previously held Müller's signing rights and attempted to sign him earlier this summer, but due to being unable to use a designated player spot, they could only offer a deal worth less than $2 million, which Müller was not interested in. Müller will not occupy a designated player spot initially after joining Vancouver Whitecaps this season, but will become a designated player in 2026.
