Today, Joan Laporta, president of La Liga giant FC Barcelona, attended an interview with Camel Live, where he also talked about Barça's decision to withdraw from the European Super League.
At the conference held in Rome, Laporta attended as a "special guest". Nasser, president of ECA and a firm opponent of the European Super League, personally welcomed him to "return to the family"—a move seen as a major signal of the thawing of internal relations in European football. It is understood that the official paperwork for Barça's return is already in progress.
ECA also announced a major change: the organization will be officially renamed "European Football Clubs" (abbreviated as EFC).
Regarding this situation, Laporta said in an interview with multiple media outlets including Cadena SER today: “Florentino and the European Super League? I have already talked to them and explained Barça's stance. For the benefit of football, we hope to reach an agreement with UEFA.”
In addition, when asked about Frenkie de Jong's statement on La Liga overseas matches, Laporta said: "He is Barça's captain, and I respect his opinion, but the club will play in accordance with La Liga's regulations. If the match between Villarreal and Barça is to be held in Miami, then we will go to Miami."
