Sources within Real Madrid have confirmed that the Brazilian forward will be sold by the club this summer.
Although Rodrygo himself has never explicitly requested to leave Real Madrid, the Brazilian international has not received his desired amount of playing time at the club since the start of the new season. He was an unused substitute in Real Madrid’s opening La Liga match against Osasuna in the early hours of Beijing time this morning.
The Brazilian forward has always prioritized a move to the Premier League. Saudi giants Al-Nassr have also made contact with Rodrygo, but no club has yet submitted a concrete offer to Real Madrid to initiate negotiations for his transfer.
Previously, the most likely club to sign Rodrygo was Premier League powerhouse Manchester City, who were willing to offer around €100 million for the Brazilian winger, but only on the condition that another winger in their squad, Savinho, leaves the Etihad Stadium to join Tottenham Hotspur. However, Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano has blocked the deal. Citing financial balance reasons, he opposed the sale of Savinho to
Tottenham, which has significantly slowed down the progress of the transaction.
For the Brazilian, the goal is clear: he could still join Arsenal, but in any case, the Gunners hope to sell players before opening negotiations with Real Madrid. As for Liverpool, Rodrygo is not the preferred type of winger for club director Michael Edwards.
