Real Madrid and Brazil football legend Roberto Carlos has undergone emergency surgery after being diagnosed with a heart condition. The legendary left-back concluded a busy one-month schedule—during which he flew to the United States to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw ceremony—before returning to Brazil and undergoing heart surgery in his home country.

It is reported that Carlos initially went to the hospital due to a small blood clot in his leg. However, after undergoing a full-body MRI scan, the medical team detected a heart condition. Carlos then underwent emergency surgery immediately, during which a catheter was inserted.

According to reports, affected by surgical complications, the surgery—initially expected to take 40 minutes—finally lasted nearly 3 hours. Postoperative updates show that Carlos is currently in good health but still needs to remain in hospital for 48 hours of observation.

Carlos’ entourage also relayed his recent condition, and Carlos himself said: “I feel much better now.”
