Multiple sources told Camel Live that La Liga giant Real Madrid, along with several other clubs from Europe and South America, are in favor of holding the revamped FIFA Club World Cup every two years to boost their revenues. However, FIFA believes this is impossible.
So far, these clubs have not made a formal request, but sources added that during the recently held Club World Cup, executives from several major clubs discussed the possibility with FIFA representatives during a meeting in the United States.
FIFA is satisfied with the outcome of the new Club World Cup but currently deems it "unfeasible" to host a new edition in just two years, and is preparing for the next Club World Cup, which will be held in 2029. FIFA distributed $1 billion in prize money to the participating teams, and sources believe that allocating such a large sum every two years is not feasible.
Real Madrid, which reached the semi-finals, received over $80 million in prize money, while Chelsea, as champions, earned $111.4 million.
Furthermore, sources stated that FIFA believes holding the Club World Cup every two years would mean a conflict with UEFA, which is not in its interests. They also think it would be extremely difficult to fit this possibility into the already packed calendar.
Sources told Camel Live that FIFA is considering the idea of organizing another Club World Cup in 2029. Qatar is among the potential candidates to host the tournament.
Qatar has already hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has the necessary funds and infrastructure to hold the event. However, the timing of the tournament is unfavorable for them, as matches would have to be held in December due to extreme heat.
