According to media reports, both Rúben Neves and João Cancelo are considering leaving Al-Hilal SFC to return to European football.

The Al-Hilal stars are exploring all possible options regarding their future, a source from Gestifute—the agency handling their representation—has revealed.

The anonymous source explained that no concrete official offers have been received so far; only several clubs have expressed strong interest, which has not yet progressed to the negotiation stage. However, if a convincing official offer emerges, either in the January winter transfer window or next summer’s window, the possibility of the two players leaving remains open.

Recent media reports about Neves’ potential departure have been on the rise, with speculation that he has delayed renewing his contract with Al-Hilal because he wants to return to Europe. Meanwhile, Cancelo has faced similar reports.

Head coach Simone Inzaghi is largely inclined to keep the existing list of 8 foreign players unchanged during the winter registration period without any adjustments, meaning Cancelo will still not be registered.

European media outlets have reported that if Al-Hilal decides not to include Cancelo in its domestic competition squad, he is considering a return to Europe—particularly joining Benfica—especially as he aims to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer.
