Famous referee Mark Clattenburg shared his views on Liverpool's transfer pursuits during a guest appearance on a podcast.
Clattenburg said: “Gyökeres joining Arsenal is a genius signing. Arsenal have been lacking a finisher, and they need a leader. If Liverpool don't sign Isak, I can foresee that this year's Premier League title race will be very fierce.”
“This all depends entirely on the Isak deal. If he joins Liverpool, there will be no uncertainty over the title; otherwise, I fancy Arsenal to win it.”
“I really enjoyed watching Liverpool last season, but towards the end of the campaign, their performance was a bit lacklustre. Other teams were also in poor form at the time – I think Liverpool were just slightly better than them.”
"Manchester City performed poorly, Chelsea were mediocre, and Manchester United and Tottenham weren't that strong. These teams would usually compete fiercely with each other, but that didn't happen last season.
While other teams' form dipped, Liverpool maintained a certain level of competitiveness – but Arsenal look much stronger this year, and I think they will be more competitive."
