Ahead of this round’s Premier League match against Bournemouth, Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim was interviewed by the club’s TV channel. The Portuguese coach talked about various topics and situations regarding the game.
On Bournemouth’s poor recent form
“As we all know, when playing at Old Trafford, all the responsibility lies with us, so this is a completely different game. Therefore, it’s our duty to win and put on a good performance.
“Bournemouth have intense attacking intent, strong quality in the final third, win many duels, and are dangerous from set pieces. So this is another Premier League game we are eager to win, especially at home – we want to regain the feeling of winning at home. Therefore, this Monday’s match is crucial.”
The Cherries, led by Andoni Iraola, rose to second place in the league table in late October but have failed to win any of their last six league games, including four defeats. However, Amorim disagrees with the view that United are facing Bournemouth at a vulnerable moment.
“I don’t think they are more dangerous now; they have always been dangerous. What I focus more on – rather than results, because results can change, and we are proof of that – is their style of play, the quality they possess, and their manager.”
On United’s recent performance
“I think we can score goals, but we are also conceding too many.
We will try to find a solution.“We need to press better and protect our goal more effectively, because I feel we haven’t faced many shots in recent games. We are making progress in this area. But we know that as long as there is a chance, we might concede.
“So, we hope to keep scoring while focusing on conceding fewer goals – that’s the key to winning games.”
