Arsenal forward Kai Havertz missed the club’s public training session today due to a knee injury, and the Gunners are actively seeking signings to strengthen the forward position in their squad.
Arsenal striker Kai Havertz is set to miss an extended period with a knee injury. The 26-year-old German international did not take part in the club’s public training session at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday morning local time. Currently, the assessment of Havertz’s injury is in its early stages, so the duration of his absence remains unclear.
However, Arsenal is now actively exploring the transfer market to boost their forward options and cover for Havertz’s absence. At present, Jota, who joined from Sporting CP this summer, is the only recognized and available center-forward in manager Mikel Arteta’s current squad. Additionally, Belgian international Leandro Trossard, who recently signed a new contract with the club, has previously operated in the No.9 role.
Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus is another option, but he is still recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in January and is not expected to return for some time.
This marks Havertz’s second injury in 2025, following a hamstring tear during a training camp in Dubai in February. Injuries also sidelined him for 18 matches in last season’s Premier League and Champions League, before he came on as a substitute in Arsenal’s final two league games. During that absence, midfielder Mikel Merino also filled in at the No.9 position.
Havertz came off the bench in Arsenal’s opening Premier League match last Sunday – a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford – replacing Jota in the 60th minute.
Since joining from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, the German has made 88 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 29 goals.
