Amid rumors of his departure, Paris goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma released a statement on social media, confirming that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain.
He stated that the departure was not his own decision, while also thanking the fans and teammates, and expressed hope to get the chance to bid farewell to the fans at the home ground.
Text of the Statement
Dear Paris fans,
From the first day I arrived at the club, I have given my all on and off the pitch. I have always hoped to earn my place and proudly guard Paris Saint-Germain’s goal.
Unfortunately, someone has decided that I am no longer part of this team, and I can no longer contribute to the team’s success. This decision leaves me feeling disappointed and bitter.
I hope I still get the chance to look into the eyes of Paris fans at Parc des Princes and bid you farewell in a proper way. If that doesn’t happen, I still want you to know that your support and care mean a great deal to me, and I will never forget them.
I will forever cherish the passionate moments, the wonderful nights, and you—those who made me feel at home—in my heart.
To my teammates—my second family—I say thank you for every battle, every smile, and every moment we shared. You will always be my brothers.
It has been a great honor for me to play for this club and live in this city.
Thank you, Paris.
