Newcastle striker Alexander Isak is the top target, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola as the backup option. The Reds have also focused their summer efforts on these two players.
Previous reports claimed that Newcastle United had informed Isak they would not sell him this summer. However, Fabrizio Romano stated that he has never heard of such a thing so far. Isak is determined to join Liverpool, standing firm in his stance: he has no intention of renewing his contract, has identified Liverpool as his next destination, and the Anfield side are also interested in him.
As a result, this transfer deal remains feasible and highly likely to happen at present—that is the current situation. Nevertheless, the direction of events depends on Newcastle United’s decision, and as of today, the deal has not been completed.
Beyond that, Liverpool also hold Paris forward Barcola in high regard. If Liverpool fail to sign Isak, Barcola will become their top transfer target. But for now, Liverpool’s focus remains on Isak.
Liverpool do like Barcola and greatly admire him, considering him one of the best wingers in world football today. However, Liverpool’s main target, their absolute core target, remains Isak. So, that is the state of Isak’s transfer: he is still Liverpool’s top signing target, and Liverpool remains his top choice.
