In an interview with camel.live, Mason Mount spoke about his form and adaptation to Amorim’s tactical system.
You played in 14 consecutive games towards the end of the season
“It gave me a lot of confidence. For me, putting in performances like that towards the end of last season was really important because I’d never had that experience before. Knowing I could do it was crucial, and my physical condition was really good enough to pull it off.”
“Now, I feel even better and more prepared for this season. I’ve reflected seriously on the small details that helped me last season. This season, I’ll keep those habits, keep improving, and strive to take things to the next level. I really feel good and in a good place.”
Adaptation to Amorim’s tactical system
“I’ve had previous experience playing in Amorim’s formations and this type of football, so bringing my knowledge and experience to the team—especially after he took charge—has been really helpful. I’m very familiar with many of the tactical patterns and movement off the ball.”
“I quickly understood what he wants, and I try my best to deliver that on the pitch. Of course, I also help the lads around me. If young players come into training, they might not be familiar with some small details, and with my experience, I can help them.”
“We’re all helping each other. Over time, we’re getting a better understanding of what the manager wants and what we as a team can do to improve, so we’re moving towards our goals.”
