Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli recently accepted an interview, in which he talked about his feelings as the Gunners topped the Premier League table during Christmas.
On Topping the Premier League at Christmas
I don’t feel under enormous pressure being top of the table. However, it’s really great to be able to compete for the Premier League title and be in such a favorable position right now. We play for one of the largest and most influential clubs in the world, so we all know that we shoulder great responsibility every time we step onto the pitch.
But we have to stay calm, be aware of our strengths, and be confident in ourselves. We also trust the club and the coaching staff very much, so the most important thing right now is to stay calm, take it one game at a time, and do our best to win every match.
We also understand that having a group of outstanding players alone does not mean we will definitely win the league title. We know that to win the championship, we must devote ourselves fully to every game. We have to give our all in every match, not only for ourselves, but also for the club, our teammates and our families. We hold a prayer session before the game to thank God for everything He has given us. We are deeply aware of how lucky we are to be here and have such an opportunity.
