Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes scored a goal in the 2-1 home win over Chelsea in Premier League Matchday 5, which was his 100th goal for the club. To mark the occasion, Manchester United specially presented him with a souvenir.
Manchester United's Director of Football, Wilcox, presented Bruno Fernandes with a framed artwork to commemorate his 100th goal for the club. The Portuguese international is the 23rd player to achieve this feat. On Wednesday afternoon, he received the gift in front of teammates and staff in the canteen at Carrington training ground.
Wilcox joked that Bruno had also asked for a similar commemoration for all his assists. He added, “This is just a small recognition for our captain Bruno. As everyone knows, he has scored 100 goals for Manchester United, which is an incredible achievement. Everyone knows Bruno – he is a captain who leads by example; he is a shining example for any young player striving to become a top player, and he is an outstanding representative of our club and his family.”
In his address to the team, Bruno Fernandes expressed his determination to help the Red Devils secure more team honours: “Obviously, I want to thank everyone right from the start – all the assists, all the goals, all the penalties I've been given the chance to take.”
"I'm extremely happy and proud to have reached this amazing milestone. When I dreamed of becoming a footballer as a kid, I never imagined achieving something like this, but obviously, it's a great honour for me. I hope that on the back of this, we can lift many trophies, because that's what matters most."
