Currently, Manchester City and Manchester United are the two front-runners to sign Antoine Semenyo.
The Ghanaian attacker’s contract includes a £65 million release clause, valid for the first half of the January transfer window. He is expected to attract multiple suitors, making a winter transfer highly likely.
Liverpool and Tottenham have also made inquiries, but both clubs are less active than the two Manchester sides. However, developments during the festive period may prompt them to rethink their positions.
With suitors continuing to court him, Semenyo’s preferences remain unclear. AFC Bournemouth hopes the 25-year-old will stay at least until the summer, but the club will lose control if the release clause is triggered .
Manchester City is eager to sign a new winger with attacking prowess who offers a different skill set from Jeremy Doku, Savio and Oscar Bobb .
Manchester United’s priority is to recruit two experienced midfielders in 2026, but after inquiring about Semenyo last summer, a mid-season move has become feasible. This is especially true given Ammar Diallo and M’Bemba’s absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and the Bournemouth star’s ability to play as a left wing-back .
Sources familiar with Liverpool’s plans indicate that while a move for Semenyo cannot be ruled out, the likelihood has decreased compared to November. However, Alexander Isak’s serious calf injury against Tottenham may prompt Liverpool to sign a new attacker .
Tottenham have recently held talks with Semenyo’s team but lag behind the two Manchester clubs in the race. Insiders reveal the player is not optimistic about a transfer to Tottenham .
Arsenal is another Premier League club admiring Semenyo, but they prefer to consider a summer move. This stance will not change unless key players depart.
