Reports suggest that Manchester United have agreed to terms for Rasmus Højlund to leave on loan with an option to buy, but the Danish striker has no intention of departing at present.
After completing the signing of Benjamin Šeško, United has been open to allowing Højlund to leave the club this summer. Since Amorim took charge midway through last season, the 22-year-old has struggled for form at Old Trafford. His place in the pecking order has further slipped following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, with Højlund even failing to get a single minute of game time in the recent friendly against Fiorentina.
It is understood that Šeško’s arrival will complete a full overhaul of Amorim’s attack for next season. Šeško is regarded within United as having superstar potential, and after scoring 21 goals for RB Leipzig last season, he is looking to build on that momentum.
If the Danish international is permitted to leave the Red Devils on loan, AC Milan are keen to sign him. It is claimed that the Rossoneri are eager to include an obligation to buy in any agreement, which would allow them to pay the potential transfer fee in installments rather than having to fork out the full amount upfront this summer.
According to reports, United have agreed to a deal involving a €6 million loan fee, a €45 million buyout clause, and Milan covering his full wages. However, the move has not yet received the green light from the player, as Højlund insists on staying.
Since joining United from Atalanta in the summer of 2023, Højlund has made 95 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals.
