Antony, winger of Manchester United, has moved out of his luxury residence in Manchester and instead checked into a four-star hotel near the airport. This move has been interpreted by the outside world as a clear sign that he is desperate to leave Old Trafford.
During his loan spell at La Liga side Real Betis last season, Antony put in an impressive performance and showed a good competitive form. However, Erik ten Hag, Manchester United's new head coach, has clearly informed him that he is not part of the team's future plans. Previously, Antony lived with his family in a luxury mansion in the suburbs of Manchester—a property that was also the residence of former Manchester United star Paul Pogba during his time with the Red Devils. Now, he and his family have moved to a four-star hotel just a five-minute drive from Manchester Airport for a temporary stay, and his £200,000 Porsche sports car is also parked in the hotel parking lot.
Although the nightly rate of the hotel is only £130, which is almost negligible for Antony who earns a weekly salary of £200,000, this change in living environment has still attracted media attention. According to a guest at the hotel, Antony often uses the spa facilities inside the hotel and seems to have entered a "transition phase" locally.
A source close to Antony said regarding his actions: “Antony clearly wants to leave Old Trafford and has done everything to ensure that if he gets a call from another club, he is ready to leave. He can be on a plane within 30 minutes.”
At present, Antony has not been training with Manchester United's first team and has instead been training individually. Various signs indicate that he is likely to return to Betis soon. It is reported that the La Liga club is close to signing him with a total fee clause of £36 million. The deal structure is expected to be a loan-to-buy arrangement: Antony will play on loan until 2026, after which a permanent transfer will be completed.
