Regarding Maresca and Manchester City, I stand by my previous statement: City's interest is genuine and serious. They have a high regard for Maresca and know him well. Maresca worked well at City in the past, assisting Pep Guardiola and working in the club's academy before deciding to strike out on his own, first going to Italy and later managing Chelsea. As such, Maresca is indeed highly valued at Manchester City.
But I want to remind again that Maresca himself has great respect for Guardiola. He will not take any initiative. The ball is now in Guardiola's court. If Guardiola decides to leave at the end of the season, Maresca would be very happy to become City's new manager, but that depends on Guardiola. Guardiola has not made any decision yet, nor has he conducted any communication, focusing entirely on Manchester City. This is just a contingency plan that City are preparing. That's why they have approached Maresca and admire him. He is not the only candidate, but City do favor him.
In addition, regarding media reports linking Maresca to the Manchester United manager's position today, this may be because Omar Berrada (current Man Utd CEO and one of the key figures in the football project) worked with Maresca during his previous tenure at Manchester City. But from what I know so far, there have been no conversations or negotiations between Manchester United and Maresca. Currently, the only club interested in Maresca's future is Manchester City. Manchester United are sticking to their stance for now; they fully back Ruben Amorim and have no other plans at this stage.
Of course, the future is unpredictable. These stories about Maresca show how the manager market can change in days or weeks, just as Maresca left Chelsea in a completely unexpected way in early January. But for now, that is not the case with Amorim, and Manchester United continue to support their manager.
