Although Premier League Big 6 clubs are interested in signing him next January, AFC Bournemouth still hopes their star striker Antoine Semenyo will stay until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old signed a new contract on July 1st, even though Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur had shown interest in him last summer. However, the contract includes a series of release clauses, paving the way for the Ghanaian international's potential departure in the future.
The first clause allows Semenyo to leave for £65 million before January 10th next year—a date chosen to give Bournemouth time to find a replacement. By summer 2026, this amount will be reduced by £5 million.
Bournemouth prefers to keep Semenyo for the remainder of the season, after which they can sell him at a lower price or reach a pre-contract agreement with him in January to let the team's core player transfer after the 2026 summer World Cup.
Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are all interested in Semenyo. However, they are well-stocked in the forward positions, so finalizing a transfer agreement ahead of summer is attractive as it allows the teams time to trim their squads.
Bournemouth is looking for a replacement but has not yet identified a specific candidate, and more players may enter the transfer market in the coming weeks. Unless Semenyo's release clause is triggered, "The Cherries" are expected to have a quiet transfer window.
Meanwhile, Semenyo has neither scored nor assisted in his last seven league games, whereas he contributed six goals and three assists in his first seven games of the season.
