Senne Lammens described his transfer to Manchester United as the realization of a "childhood dream," stating that this is only the start of a new journey—one where he hopes to grow with the team and bring long-term success to Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper said that from the moment he first heard Manchester United was interested in him, there was only one club on his mind.
"This is my dream move. When I was five years old, Manchester United was in its prime. You remember how great United is, so when I heard they were interested in me, it felt like a childhood dream coming true.
"I remember when I was a kid, United won the Champions League and Premier League titles. I also want to help the team reach a level where we can compete for trophies again and play in the Champions League once more. That’s one of my biggest goals too—I hope to grow with the team and reach the heights of United’s past glory.
"This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the Premier League is the biggest league in the world.
"At my former club Antwerp, there are some players who also play in England. When I talk to them about Manchester United, you can see the change in their expressions right away. Just the club itself—the aura around it is massive. Being here today and seeing it with my own eyes is a different level.
"It’s crazy. So that’s also a big reason why I chose United. I’m so happy we could get this all done today."
On Tuesday morning, Lammens visited Old Trafford for the first time—a moment he had long been looking forward to.
"You can feel and see its history. When a stadium like this has seen so much happen over the past years and decades, I think you can almost feel that when you walk in. So that’s another big thing I’m looking forward to: stepping onto the pitch for the first time and thinking about all the great players who have played there, especially the goalkeepers.
"The fans are incredible too! In my limited interactions with the club so far, I’ve already been in touch with so many people. I’ve received a lot of messages online, and even people back in Belgium are already talking to me about this.
"You can feel that in everything."
