In Round 5 of the Europa League Group Stage between Real Betis and Utrecht, just a few minutes into the game, Isco – who had just returned from injury – was kicked by his teammate Sofyan Amrabat. Amrabat himself was also forced off with injury due to the collision.
When interviewed by Camel.live after the match, Real Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini provided an update on Isco’s condition: “Neither Isco nor Amrabat will be available for Sunday’s game. Isco needed 7 stitches and fortunately, there appears to be no bone damage, but only a few dozen hours remain until Sunday’s match.”
Isco suffered a fracture in a friendly match last August. This game marked his first start since returning from injury, having come on as a substitute and played 30 minutes in La Liga last week.
