According to reporters from camel.live, following Rasmus Hojlund's departure from Manchester United, the club’s No. 9 jersey has been left vacant. United still needs to sign a new center-forward to compete with Benjamin Sesko.
Manchester United signed three forwards this summer – Matheus Cunha, Ivan Toney, and Benjamin Sesko. Currently, only Toney has scored 2 goals for the club. After Hojlund’s exit, Sesko is the only center-forward remaining in United’s squad, so the club must bring in a new center-forward to create competition with Sesko.
Legendary players such as Andy Cole, Dimitar Berbatov, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Romelu Lukaku have all worn the No. 9 jersey for Manchester United. The club may look to fill this position in the January transfer window or next summer.
The No. 14 jersey – previously worn by Christian Eriksen, Jesse Lingard, and Javier Hernández – is currently vacant, along with the No. 17 jersey (formerly belonging to Alejandro Garnacho). After Diogo Dalot switched to the No. 2 jersey, the No. 20 jersey has also become available, and the No. 21 is similarly up for grabs.
The No. 27, 28, 29, 34, 36, and 39 jerseys – all previously used by first-team players – have not yet been reallocated.
This summer, Casemiro, Tom Heaton, and Tyrell Malacia are likely to leave the club when their contracts expire. Their departures will free up the No. 18, 22, and 12 jerseys.
