When Harry Kane transferred from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich, several German journalists questioned why Bayern had spent €100 million on a 30-year-old player who had never won a trophy in his career at the time. However, Kane has proven the critics wrong with his actions—over just two years, he has scored nearly 100 goals for the Bavarian side.
Journalist Alfred Draxler wrote after Bayern’s win over 1899 Hoffenheim: “Like some others, I was critical of Tottenham Hotspur’s €100 million transfer of Kane to Bayern Munich in 2023. I thought: That was too much money for a player who was 30 at the time and had never won a title. There were more ‘cost-effective’ options. Take Niklas Füllkrug, for example—he scored 16 goals for Werder Bremen last season.”
He later added with admiration: “Kane has never been injured! That’s not just luck. It speaks volumes about his strict discipline and hard training. I don’t think Harry Kane goes on holidays to hotels where you have to reserve sun loungers in the morning.”
Against Hoffenheim, Kane scored his ninth hat-trick for Bayern Munich—and his second of the season. Furthermore, he has scored 70 Bundesliga goals in just 67 appearances.
On September 27th, Kane will return to the pitch as Bayern, led by Vincent Kompany, host Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
