According to camel.live, Hansi Flick is unhappy with Inigo Martinez’s departure.
Though he has never stated it publicly, Flick is dissatisfied with the exit of Martinez, a defensive leader who was the core of Barcelona’s defensive system last season. Barca have conceded too many goals this season, partly because opponents have familiarized themselves with their tactical approach and partly due to numerous disorganizations in defensive setup. Flick has always insisted that effective pressing when the opposition is in possession is crucial, and he has been continuously training and emphasizing this daily.
In the heavy defeat against Chelsea, Flick saw positive factors but was unhappy with the team’s defeatist attitude for most of the second half, especially after Estêvão scored Chelsea’s second goal. When down to ten men and trailing by two goals, the players seemingly deemed the London clash a lost cause.
Flick firmly believes that if all the aforementioned requirements are met, Barca will become a transformed side – far stronger than they were against Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and other opponents. Only with greater resilience can Barca remain competitive in every game and compete for all trophies.
