After securing a 5-2 home win in the Madrid Derby, Atlético Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann was interviewed by the club’s official channel.
Could you talk about this game and the team’s current form?
This was a fantastic game for my teammates. In fact, the entire team—even the players on the bench—were really looking forward to this match and supported the team as always. The atmosphere at the ground was unbelievable; it gave us strength, and we have to keep up this form—this is the right path. We do need to improve on two or three things, but I think we’re on the right track and we have to stay the course.
Do you have any specific plans for the upcoming games?
No, I don’t have any specific plans. But as I said, the performance in this game was incredible—I’m very proud, and I want to keep making history here, at this club. I hope my 200th goal comes soon—firstly, it will help the team, and secondly, it will make me even happier.
What do you think of Álvarez’s performance?
His performance was unbelievable; he’s already reached an amazing level. We need him to maintain this standard, and at the same time, we ourselves need to step up to help him develop—so that he can play at his best on the pitch, contributing to the team just like he did over the past two nights.
