German forward Leroy Sané, who transferred to Galatasaray this summer, was involved in a physical altercation with a fan when he returned to Munich to attend the Oktoberfest over the weekend.
Last Sunday, inside an Oktoberfest tent in Munich, Sané joined several of his former Bayern Munich teammates at the event. However, amid the crowded tent, the German international was witnessed engaging in a brief scuffle with a fan.
The conflict stemmed from Sané enduring sustained insults: a fan shouted accusations at him for moving from Bayern Munich to Galatasaray, and repeatedly yelled "Damn Galatasaray". As the verbal abuse escalated, Sané eventually lost his temper and fought back, leading to physical contact between the two. Multiple security personnel quickly stepped in to separate them.
The company operating the Oktoberfest tent confirmed the incident, stating: “A minor security incident occurred on Sunday evening. On-site security personnel effectively brought the situation under control and resolved it peacefully, and it did not reach the level requiring police intervention.”
The 30-year-old forward said: "I want to clarify that I did not intentionally initiate this altercation. However, I was subjected to prolonged provocation and personal attacks inside the tent, and Galatasaray – the club I play for – was also insulted. I was pushed in the heated atmosphere, and a brief conflict followed. I should have remained calmer, and I am willing to take responsibility for the corresponding consequences."
