Serhou Guirassy (29) is a key player under head coach Nico Kovac. In his 15 months at Borussia Dortmund, the striker has scored 44 goals! The Guinean player could have left the club for a fixed transfer fee of up to €75 million last summer

However, several teams did not choose to formally pursue Guirassy, and he also opted to stay.

Nevertheless, Guirassy’s release clause will take effect again in June next year. By then, the striker’s valuation will drop significantly, further increasing his appeal to competitors…

The new "buyout fee" next summer will be approximately €50 million. This is a gradually decreasing contractual clause, signed by the last season’s Champions League top scorer (13 goals, the same as Barcelona’s Raphinha) when he transferred from VfB Stuttgart to Dortmund in 2024.

According to the contract, his release clause will decrease year by year until the end of his contract in 2028. The only restriction is that the release clause only applies to top European clubs.

For example, if there are inquiries from wealthy regions like Saudi Arabia, Dortmund can negotiate the transfer fee freely.

Barcelona, managed by German coach Hansi Flick, is interested in signing Guirassy and sees him as Robert Lewandowski’s successor.

Given the Catalan side’s financial constraints, the Dortmund star could eventually be a suitable solution.

A transfer to his hometown club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in France has also been discussed, as some of Guirassy’s family members live there.
