Recently, former Premier League midfielder Craig Burley shared his views on Liverpool and Virgil van Dijk during an interview with Camel Live.
Burley said: “In my opinion, Van Dijk has not fulfilled his leadership responsibilities as captain at all; instead, he keeps blaming his teammates. There's no doubt that Kelleher is going through a tough time right now.”
“Kelleher joined a big club like Liverpool, surrounded by star teammates, with high expectations from the outside world—this pressure is already too much for him to bear. But if your captain is staring at you, blaming and criticizing you every two minutes, I think that will only make things worse.”
"Even in the final stages of the match against Manchester United, look at that clearance where the ball hit Kelleher in the face and bounced away—what else could he have done? He was standing behind Van Dijk assisting in defense. Yet Van Dijk turned around, gestured at him to show his dissatisfaction, and the fans saw it. I really don't think this approach can improve the situation."
